an onyx is not beautiful,
it is mysterious
it is wondrous
succulent, like chocolate colored eyes

I feel as though it’s the most perfect gem
that describes your complexities—
the flaws that make you,
you

but if only you were clear
or pure like morning dew
cause your transparency is nonexistent,
as black as a raven,
you’re delicate like one too

looking into you is like staring at a wall
but maybe that’s on brand,
cause you’re stubborn after all

but like any precious gem,
it’s meaning is profound
a stone of mystery, in which it’s value
makes the world go round

never stop being you
but understand that at some point in your life,
your depth will be overdue
